Diana Markosian: A Bittersweet Reunion Through Photographs
After 15 years of searching, photographer Diana Markosian has finally found her way back to the father she thought was lost forever. Her new photobook is a poignant and raw documentation of their reunion, a journey that's been both heartwarming and heartbreaking.
In October 1996, seven-year-old Diana Markosian and her brother David were taken from their home by their mother on a whim. The siblings were just eight and six years old at the time, respectively, when they embarked on an unorthodox adventure to Los Angeles with only one-way tickets in hand. They would eventually settle into a new life, but for Diana, the absence of her father was a constant ache that lingered deep within.
Markosian's decision to find her estranged father after all these years has led to a beautiful yet fraught relationship. Her latest work serves as a testament to this journey, revealing the complexities and emotions involved in reconnecting with someone who once seemed lost forever.
