Miyako
Miyako is a conceptual design exploration rooted in quietness and intentional living. It is a visual response to the loudness of the modern beverage industry. In a market often characterized by 'high-energy' aesthetics; I chose to lean into the power of quiet. This project is my way of reclaiming a simple daily comfort and elevating it into an intentional aesthetic experience. The core of Miyako is the transformation of a cold, industrial object, the aluminum can, into a vessel for the meditative ritual of tea. It steps away from commercial urgency and leans into calm. My creative process is influenced by the atmosphere of Japanese healing fiction. Much like the characters in books like Days at the Morisaki Bookshop or Before the Coffee Gets Cold, who find clarity within the walls of a quiet shop or over a steaming cup, I believe everyday objects can offer comfort. The design is rooted in a sense of discipline and a deep admiration for the culture that inspired it. The sun and the mountain on the can are not merely design elements. To me, the 'Land of the Rising Sun' represents more than a place - it symbolizes a fresh start, much like the clarity found in the first cup of tea.
